What do we have here?  The debris in this stove needs to be removed before sweeping. The bricks are badly damaged and the stove is not working efficiently with poor air wash which would keep the glass clean and operate correctly.

Looking up the flue there is quite a bit of creosote which could be due to a lack of regular cleaning or heavy use of damp wood.
